Best custom GPTs
10 custom GPTs, grouped by what they do and ordered by reported conversation volume.
This page lists 10 custom GPTs: assistants built on ChatGPT for one job each, rather than general-purpose chatbots. They cover Education (3), Design (2), Research (2), Productivity (1), Career (1) and Video (1). Every entry links to its own page with what it does, who made it and how to open it in ChatGPT.
The order is by reported conversation count, which is the only usage figure OpenAI publishes for a GPT. Canva leads with about 9,200,000 conversations. The GPTs listed here have handled roughly 48,000,000 conversations between them.
A custom GPT needs no installation and no API key. It runs inside ChatGPT, so a paid ChatGPT plan is usually the only requirement. For tools that run on their own instead, see the full directory.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a custom GPT?
- A version of ChatGPT set up for one task, with its own instructions and sometimes its own files or tools. You open it inside ChatGPT and talk to it the same way, but it already knows the job you want done.
- Do I need to pay to use these?
- The GPTs themselves are free to open. Access to custom GPTs is part of a paid ChatGPT plan, so that subscription is normally what you need.
- How is this list ordered?
- By the conversation count OpenAI reports for each GPT. It is a usage figure, so a GPT that more people have talked to sits higher. It is not a quality score and we do not rate these ourselves.
- What is the difference between a GPT and an AI tool?
- A GPT runs inside ChatGPT and depends on it. An AI tool is its own product with its own sign-up, pricing and often its own API. The rest of this directory covers the second kind.
