How to write better Midjourney prompts
Five techniques pros use to get cinematic results.
4/29/2026 · Admin
Great Midjourney prompts have four parts: subject, style, light, and parameters. Subject is what you're showing. Style is the artistic frame (cinematic, isometric, photoreal). Light controls mood (golden hour, neon, soft daylight). Parameters tune output (--ar, --style, --v).
Start with a single high-quality reference. Build from there. Iterate.
## The 4-part formula
1. **Subject** — Be specific. "A man" is weak. "A weather-worn fisherman with a pipe" is strong.
2. **Style** — Pick one and stick to it.
3. **Light** — Light shapes mood more than anything.
4. **Params** — Don't over-engineer.
