Yi, from 01.AI, is listed in this directory as open source. But the 01.ai homepage reads nothing like a model hub. There's no download button or model card front and center, and nothing about coding. What you'll find is an enterprise AI consultancy selling decision products to CEOs, investors and sales leaders, with every path ending in "Book a Consultation."

That's the core tension for a developer audience. The company behind Yi was founded in Beijing in May 2023 under Dr. Kai-Fu Lee and, by its own account, became a unicorn quickly. So who is this page for? If you want an open model to self-host and tinker with, Yi's open source status is the reason it's here, but the vendor site won't help you much. You'll want to compare it directly against Llama, Qwen or DeepSeek on your own benchmarks. If you're a large organization in manufacturing, energy, logistics, education or the public sector and you want a vendor to run an executive-led AI rollout, 01.AI is clearly built for that conversation.
